Making the Mundane Magickal

Making the Mundane Magickal

Something magickal happens when you weave intention, spells, and actual magick into your daily routine. To help you infuse your day with more witchy energy, we’ve created a list of magickal ideas that are simple and don’t require anything other than your imagination. Here’s your guide for turning mundane tasks into something absolutely magickal.

Step Outside and Breathe

Nature brings so much magick with it. Stepping outside and placing your feet on the ground can help you center yourself throughout the day. If you work from home, take a couple of minutes during your workday to water your plants. Notice how you can hear the water seep into the soil as it nourishes your plant babies. If you work in an office but have a green space nearby, take a break and step out into the sun. On the weekends, take a walk in the park or spend some time reading on your patio. When you spend time in nature, set your phone and other electronics aside. Tune into the forces all around you: the blowing breeze, the smell of the grass, the rooted trees, the singing birds.

Coffee Magick

A cup of coffee is so simple, yet can become magickal with just a little intention. Coffee can be used to motivate and inspire movement. Boost your spells with its potent, energizing magick, or tap into your creativity while drinking a cup. You can even read coffee grounds like tea leaves or use grounds resting in water to make ink for writing protection, banishing, and power spells.

Create Playlists for Different Times of Day

Something as simple as your music subscription service can add some magick to your day. Consider creating different playlists for different times of the day – or different moods! You might have a relaxing playlist for evening journaling time or an invigorating playlist to play while you take your morning shower. Consider the words sung in each song as part of the playlist’s overall intention and for the times you plan to use them.

Stretch

Feel your muscles as you move! You don’t have to do a fully organized yoga sequence, but getting up and out of your chair in the mid-morning can help you feel better throughout your day. Using the time to stand in a power pose – one that makes you feel confident and strong – along with a powerful affirmation can mean the difference between surviving a few more hours of work and thriving during that time.

Create A Relationship With Your Food

Yum…what smells so good? Your meal if you take a couple of extra minutes to really smell it before chowing down. Creating a relationship with your food can infuse mealtimes with magick. For instance, thanking everyone who had a hand in bringing the ingredients to the store and then to your table is a wonderful bit of gratitude magick. Choosing which herbs and spices to add to your meal can turn something as simple as soup into a magickal experience that may bring more love, health, or happiness to those who eat it.

Adorn Your Body with Intention

It’s easy to get dressed and then go about your day, even if you don’t leave the house. Instead of throwing on just any old pair of jeans and a t-shirt, think about what you want to wear. Choose jewelry made from gemstones or handcrafted with pride and love. Dab oil on your wrists or on your neck that can help inspire, protect, or uplift you. We often hear our body is our temple. What would it be like to decorate it like a temple?

Decorate Your Home with Magick

Speaking of decorating, bring magickal aspects into every room of your home if possible. If you’re not quite out of the broom closet yet, consider ways to secretly infuse magick into each space. Sigils drawn in Florida Water, salt sprinkled on the floor and then swept out the back door, and beautiful crystals placed in strategic places are just a few ideas of covertly adding magick to your home.

Add an Affirmation to Your Phone Background

On average, we click, swipe, or tap on our phones around 2,600 times a day. We unlock our phones around 150 times a day. By using an affirmation or a magickal picture as the background for your phone, you can remind yourself of the magick you’re creating every time you unlock it or close out the windows.

As you consider how to turn the mundane magickal, look at some of the activities you do multiple times a day. How might you change one little habit, so it becomes something more than just a routine task?
