Fire Spells for Creating or Consuming

Fire Spells for Creating or Consuming

Fire is a dynamic element, capable of creating heat, warmth, and power while also capable of burning things, banishing, and creating boundaries. After all, sometimes a witch has to burn a bridge or two. Fire’s duality makes it useful for witches of all experience levels, and here are some of our favorite ways to use fire spells in our practice.

Before we dig in, here are some tools, gemstones, and herbs that you may want to incorporate into your spell or have on your altar while you work.

Okay, now let’s dig into the fun part.

Pyromancy Spell

Fire is one of the earliest forms of divination. With pyromancy, seers could gaze into the flames and discern images of the past, present, or future. Sometimes bones were tossed into the fire, and the damage to them caused by the heat was read and interpreted.

The easiest way to practice pyromancy is to clear your space, cast a circle, and then grab a candle. Decide on the candle color that fits your intention and hold it in your dominant hand. Infuse the candle with your intention and place it in a fireproof vessel. Light the candle and gaze gently at the flame.

Recite this spell or write your own:

This flame flickers and dances with ease,

Bringing visions to me as I please.

You may notice that the space around you darkens while looking at the flame. This is normal. Allow messages and images to come to you through the flame. When complete, close out your ritual and journal insights in your Book of Shadows.

Carromancy Spell

Carromancy, or wax scrying, is a divination method in which the diviner interprets shapes and symbols in melted wax. There are two main ways to practice carromancy. The first is by dripping hot candle wax into a bowl of water and observing the shapes it makes. The second is by reading candle wax that has dripped down and away from a candle as it burns. As both are forms of scrying, it is best to open your Third Eye as you are “reading” the symbols to help you interpret the wax formations. Carromancy is another of the world’s oldest forms of divination, originating with the ancient Celts and Romans.

Recite this spell and edit it to fit your needs:

As this candle melts, I am open to know,

What revelations my guides and Spirit want to show.

Cleanse & Balance Spell

For this simple cleansing and balancing spell, you will need one white candle and one black candle. As the black candle removes negative energy, the white candle replaces it with positive energy. The result is cleansed and balanced energy for you and your home.

Hold the black candle in your dominant hand and charge it with cleansing intentions.

With this candle, I release and remove toxicity and negativity.

Hold the white candle in your dominant hand and charge it with balancing intentions.

With this candle, I call in positivity to support me.

Place the two candles about six inches apart on your altar.

Light them simultaneously and leave both until they have burned out (keep an eye on them for safety!). Alternatively, if the candles are larger, you can extinguish and relight them later.

Banishing Fire Spell

Write the names of people, things, or habits you wish to banish on a piece of paper. Then fold the paper three times away from yourself and place it in a fireproof vessel, such as a cauldron.

Recite this spell while holding the vessel:

By the cleansing power of fire and flame,

I banish negativity, so my power, I reclaim.

Use a match or lighter to light the paper on fire and envision those people or things with bad energy burning away and releasing into the smoke.

And, as always, please practice fire magick safely, ensure all supplies are fully extinguished when you’re done, and never leave a candle unattended. Happy spellcasting, witches!
