Fire Magick for Courage, Strength, & Passion

Fire Magick for Courage, Strength, & Passion

Fire Magick can be both destructive and productive, depending on how you use it. From simple candle magick to cleansing rituals, you can use fire in a variety of ways. Here are a few ideas and a list of correspondences to help you get started.

Candle Magick

Candle magick is one of the most common and accessible forms of spellwork. It’s easy for newcomers to pick up and can be built upon as you grow within your craft. In its most basic form, you can use any candle you have on hand. With your intention clear in your mind, light the candle and image your goals bursting forth with power as the flame ignites. Burn the candle as long as you wish and gently blow or snuff out the flame, imagining your desires carried out into the Universe upon the smoke.

Use the color of your candle to help reinforce your magickal intent, and then select a supporting scent. From there, you can also use appropriate oils to anoint your candles, then move on to carving words, symbols, or sigils directly into the wax. Each added layer of symbolism increases your focus, and in doing so, increases the potency of your spell. *Never leave burning candles unattended.

Pyromancy

Pyromancy is the practice of divination with fire. Fire is one of the earliest tools used by humans, so it makes sense that gazing into a fire became one of the first divination methods. Seers could gaze into the flames and discern images of the past, present, or future. Sometimes bones were tossed into the fire, and the damage to them caused by the heat was read and interpreted. There are several subtypes of Pyromancy that depend on what materials are being burned.

Fire Releasing

It’s a cliché from movies and sitcoms, but burning objects that belonged to an ex or things that no longer serve you is a good way to cleanse your life of the energies that come with them. You can use your fireplace or a backyard firepit to release the energy from these objects in a fire carefully. You can also do the same thing to release habits or negative thoughts. Write them on a piece of paper and drop them (again, safely) into the fire. Visualize them being released as you watch the smoke curl up from the piece of paper.

Similarly, you can write an intention on a Bay Leaf and burn it to activate the intention and let the Universe do the rest. Likewise, using fire to burn an assortment of herbs or resins can help purify a space or bring peace.

Use Fire To Activate Energy

One of the gifts of fire is its ability to activate energy. Light a candle or select gemstones that resonate with fire energy when working on communication, confidence, leadership, or any magick that requires passion, power, energy, or protection. It’s especially useful in sex and love spells, when you need help with courage, harnessing your personal strength, or when removing negativity. Incense is perfect for using Fire Magick in your practice when an open flame isn’t as practical.
