Nightmare Dream Interpretations

Nightmare Dream Interpretations

Bad dreams. It's safe to say we all have had our fair share of times we've woken up from a nightmare and wondered, what does it mean? When we go to sleep, our brain does its best to process all of the information gathered in our everyday waking lives, which our subconscious minds then use to play out our expectations, solutions, or deepest fears within our dreams. A nightmare is our mind's natural way of expressing any repressed negative thoughts and emotions. It's understandable why they would feel more real than we would prefer! By exploring the signs and themes of our recurring dreams, we can better learn and understand the roots of our deeper insecurities. Here are some common themes of nightmares and what they may be trying to tell you!

1. Falling
A dream about falling represents sudden loss of control. Maybe there is a situation that you feel overwhelmed by and wish there was more you could do.  If this dream occurs often, remember to focus on the things you can change, and that it's okay to ask for help when you need to!

2. Being Chased
Being chased by someone in a dream is an indicator that you may be running away from something in your life. This could be responsibilities or a person you are trying to avoid. Another interpretation is the suppression of your own unpleasant feelings such as jealousy, hatred, or resentment towards someone.  Acknowledge that facing your fears and truths can free you of emotional burdens.

3. Teeth Falling Out
Dreams about your teeth often reflect how you feel about yourself. Teeth falling out suggests a lack of self-confidence that is making it difficult to speak your mind. Perhaps there is something you need to get off your chest that's been causing anxiety. Speak to someone who you feel comfortable and safe enough to share your fears or doubts!

4. Nudity
Ever dreamt of looking down and realizing you forgot to put on your pants or anything at all? Even worse is when it happens to be in public! This kind of dream signifies being self-conscious about your appearance or how others perceive you. Find an activity that involves engaging with others so you can work on lessening social anxiety and empower yourself by building up self-esteem.

5. Death
A dream about dying, or the death of someone else, represents feelings of loss or grief. Like death, change is inevitable, which can be one of the hardest things to accept as a part of our lives. Often times, these dreams suggest an ending, transformation, or new beginning. There may be something already in mind that you've wanted to let go or move on from, and your dreams are there to help you prepare for the desired change and fresh start!
